Cocaine Addiction and © Narconon Socal
Narconon Socal has been successfully treating cocaine addiction for more than 40 years.
Cocaine abuse is a serious problem in America. It’s estimated that one in four Americans between the ages of 24 and 36 have tried cocaine at least once in their lives.
Known as a “club drug,” cocaine use and abuse has skyrocketed over the last 30 years in America. In 2005, the street value of cocaine sold in the United States exceeded $70 billion dollars—more than the annual revenue of major corporations like Starbucks.
Typically, cocaine addicts get high by snorting a powder form of the drug. But cocaine can be injected or smoked as well.
The deleterious effects of cocaine are well documented. Prolonged use and abuse can cause fatal respiratory problems, heart arrhythmia, bronchial spasms, stroke and aneurysms.
But even before the addict begins experiencing serious physical side effects, the emotional and psychological side effects of cocaine use take their toll.
While cocaine produces a brief “high,” causing the addict to feel energetic and euphoric, as soon as he or she stops using the drug the body responds by suppressing the naturally occurring chemicals in the brain that regulate mood. As a result, the addict feels depressed, hopeless and even suicidal. These negative feelings are strong incentive for the addict to use cocaine again.
At Narconon Socal Drug Rehab, we help cocaine addicts kick their cocaine addiction and start leading healthy, happy productive lives again.
As part of the Narconon Socal rehabilitation program, we help cocaine addicts detoxify their bodies through a drug-free process that helps restore vital vitamins and minerals lost during addiction. The Narconon Socal staff carefully monitors our patients during withdrawal to ensure that withdrawal is safe and as comfortable as possible.
Next, the Narconon Socal treatment program helps the addict address the fundamental issues that led to drug and alcohol abuse in the first place. We help our clients learn how to live happy, productive lives through courses that improve their ability to absorb and retain information, improve their communication skills, deal with stress, make wise choices about who they associate with and live with more honesty and integrity.
Cocaine addiction doesn’t have to destroy the addict’s life. At Narconon Socal, we can help heroin addicts recover.
